Who's making this

There are only two of us.

One of us spends a lot of time in front of a computer building software that probably didn't need to be quite as complicated as we made it. The other spends a lot of time turning designs, materials and ideas into things you can actually hold.

Between us, we make everything that leaves here.

There isn't a warehouse full of products waiting to be shipped. There isn't a production line somewhere else making your order for us.

Most of what you see on the site doesn't exist until you ask us to make it.

Two very different jobs, one business

The work naturally splits between us, although we're both involved in the finished product.

I handle the technical side of the business.

That means building and maintaining the software behind the website, developing the systems that turn your ideas and photographs into printable designs, creating and repairing 3D models, preparing them for production, running the computers and keeping all of the different systems working together.

My wife handles most of the physical making.

She takes the designs and turns them into finished products — printing and finishing models, making the sublimation products, vinyl work, cards, crochet and everything else that doesn't require the software systems I've built.

And we both check and work on the finished orders.

It's very much a joint effort. We just happen to have very different jobs within it.

Why we built it this way

We started with handmade products, particularly crochet and amigurumi.

The problem with completely handmade custom work is simple: it takes a lot of time.

Making something by hand is one thing. Designing something completely new from scratch can take just as long, sometimes longer.

We wanted to make personalised products without the price becoming ridiculous simply because every order was custom.

So instead of accepting that the design process had to take hours or days, I started building software to handle the parts that computers are good at.

That eventually grew into the system we have today.

The technology doesn't replace the making. It makes the process around the making faster and more manageable.

That means we can offer something that would otherwise require a huge amount of time and make it at a price that is actually realistic.

You design it. We make it.

This is probably the biggest difference between us and a traditional personalised gift shop.

We don't want you to pick a product and then simply tell us what words to put on it.

We want you to have a say in what you're actually buying.

For our 3D products, you can start with your own idea or photograph and use our tools to create the design you want.

For products such as our mugs, you can choose the images, decide where they go and build the design yourself.

You see what you're creating before you order.

Once you're happy, we take over and do the proper production work.

For custom 3D models, we carry out the full detailed modelling process after your initial design. We then send you the finished render so you can see what we're going to make.

If something isn't quite right, you get one round of changes before we go ahead.

Why our products are made to order

Almost everything we sell is made specifically for the person ordering it.

We don't keep hundreds of finished products sitting on shelves.

There may occasionally be a small batch of something in the shop that we've designed ourselves and decided to produce, but even then we're talking about a handful of pieces rather than mass production.

The majority of the time, your order doesn't exist until you create it.

Five people could ask us for a model of a dog and end up with five completely different models.

Five people could order a mug and choose completely different photographs, layouts and designs.

Your order starts with you.

That's why we can offer such a high level of personalisation.

Why we build the technology ourselves

A lot of the systems behind the website are things I've built specifically for this business.

The website, design tools, 3D processing, colour systems, pricing and ordering systems all run through software we've developed and operate ourselves.

We start with open-source technology where it makes sense to do so, but we build the systems around it ourselves to fit exactly what we're trying to achieve.

A few outside services are involved: Stripe for payments, Cloudflare, which connects the website to the internet, and Resend, which delivers our emails.

That means we don't need to build our business around someone else's idea of how a personalised product should be ordered.

We can build it around how we want you to order one.

It also helps us keep our prices as low as we reasonably can.

We're not the cheapest place you can buy a personalised product — and we don't pretend to be.

Our 3D figures start from £28 and our personalised mugs from £13.

What you're paying for isn't a mass-produced item with a name added to it.

You're paying for something designed specifically for you, with the design process, software, modelling, making and finishing all handled by us.

Building the technology ourselves lets us do that without the price reaching the levels that fully bespoke work would normally cost.

How we make things, in detail

Small by design

We're still a small business.

We have one main computer powerful enough to run our more demanding systems, one 3D printer, our heat presses and the rest of the equipment needed to make what we sell.

We're not trying to become a factory.

Being small means we can keep the process personal.

When you order something custom, there are only two people between your idea and the finished product.

That's us.

We deliver across the UK. On some products delivery is built into the price; on others, such as our smaller items, it's worked out separately so you're never charged parcel postage for something that goes in an envelope.

If you're ordering from us, you're not buying from a catalogue and waiting for something to arrive from a warehouse.

You're asking two people to make something specifically for you.

And that's exactly how we intend to keep it.
