We want you to know what you're buying, how we make it, how long it is likely to take and what happens if something goes wrong.
We're a small, two-person workshop in Barnsley. Almost everything we make is made specifically for the person who ordered it, rather than being taken from a shelf or warehouse.
That means there are a few things worth knowing before you order.
This website is run by Kawaii Crochet and Crafts, a sole trader business.
Our address is 10 Fleetwood Ave, Monk Bretton, Barnsley, S71 2EE.
You can reach us at [email protected] for general questions, or [email protected] if there is a problem with an order.
This is our workshop address and where the business is based. We do not offer local collection, so please don't turn up to collect an order.
Most of the products on this website are made specifically for your order.
You might provide an idea, photographs, artwork, a design or simply choose from the options available on the website. We then make the product for you.
Because we're a small workshop, your order joins our production queue. We don't have a large production line or dozens of machines running at once — there are only two of us making everything.
Different products also use different equipment and processes. A 3D-printing order may need to wait for the 3D printer, while a sublimation, vinyl or crochet order can often be worked on separately.
This means one product being busy does not necessarily hold up every other product.
When you order, we'll give you an estimated dispatch timeframe based on the current queue and the type of product you've ordered. Dispatch is when your order leaves us; once it's posted, delivery times are up to the courier.
We will always do our best to help with deadlines, but we cannot guarantee a particular date unless we have specifically agreed that date with you.
For custom 3D models, the design process normally works like this:
This gives you a chance to see what we're going to make before we turn it into a physical product.
When a model is created from photographs of a person, pet or other subject, the result is a 3D interpretation or likeness, not an exact replica.
The result depends on the photographs provided, the angle, lighting, visible features and the limitations of the modelling process.
Our aim is to create something recognisable and personal to you, but we cannot guarantee that every tiny feature will be reproduced exactly.
Sizes shown for 3D models are approximate.
The final printed size can vary slightly because of the way a model is prepared, scaled and printed.
3D printing produces a physical object layer by layer.
Because of this, printed products can have small variations such as:
These are normal characteristics of the 3D-printing process and are not necessarily faults.
Where a model contains particularly fine details, some features may also need to be adjusted during preparation so that the model can actually be printed successfully.
Picture plaques are created from the image or design supplied by you.
The final physical result can differ slightly from what you see on a screen because printed colours, materials and lighting are different from a computer or phone display.
Very small details may also become less visible when an image is converted into a physical layered or printed design.
Where we need to make changes to an image so that it can be produced successfully, we will do our best to preserve the important details of your design.
Our shadow boxes are made using multiple layers to create depth.
Because they are assembled by hand, small differences in alignment, spacing and finishing can occur.
The final result may also look slightly different from an on-screen preview because you are looking at a physical object with real shadows and depth rather than a flat image.
Sublimation products are individually produced using the design you provide or create through our website.
Colours can vary slightly between the design shown on screen and the finished product because screens and printed materials reproduce colour differently.
Small variations caused by the printing and pressing process are part of making the product.
Where care instructions are supplied with a product, following them will help maintain the printed finish.
Vinyl products are individually cut and applied to the chosen surface.
Small variations can occur during cutting, weeding and application.
Vinyl is a physical material and its lifespan depends on the surface it is applied to, how the item is used, washing or cleaning, exposure to heat, sunlight and general wear.
We will provide any specific care information that applies to the product you have ordered.
Crochet products are handmade rather than machine-produced.
This means that no two handmade pieces will necessarily be completely identical.
There may be small differences in:
These differences are part of the handmade nature of the product.
Crochet orders generally take considerably longer than our other products. As a guide, a custom crochet or amigurumi item can take around 4–6 weeks, depending on the item and our current queue.
Some models can be produced in full colour rather than a single filament colour.
Full-colour printing requires additional preparation and processing.
Where a full-colour option is available, we take an £8 deposit to cover the additional detailed preparation work.
The £8 deposit is deducted from the final price of the full-colour model.
Because this preparation work takes place before the final full-colour price can be confirmed, the final price may be different from the initial estimate.
If the final full-colour price is more than you want to pay, we can normally offer the same model as a standard single-colour print where the model is suitable for this.
The original quoted price for the single-colour version applies, with the £8 deposit deducted from the amount you need to pay.
The £8 deposit covers work that has already been carried out.
If you decide not to continue after we have completed that preparation, the deposit may therefore be retained to cover the work already done.
If we are unable to produce the model for a reason on our side, the deposit will be refunded.
Our paint-your-own kits are intended as hobby/craft products.
A typical kit may contain a prepared single-colour figure, acrylic paints in small hobby paint pots and a brush.
The exact contents will be stated on the product page.
Paint-your-own kits should be used appropriately and with suitable supervision where necessary.
Unless a particular product has been specifically assessed and supplied as a children's toy, it should not be treated as a toy for children.
We will not describe a product as a children's toy, child-safe or non-toxic unless the product has been assessed and is suitable for those claims.
If you provide us with photographs, artwork, logos, characters or other material, you must have the right to give us permission to use that material for your order.
For photographs of other people, you should have their permission where appropriate.
We use customer-supplied material to create the product that has been ordered.
We do not claim ownership of your original photographs, artwork or personal designs simply because you have supplied them to us.
However, we cannot take responsibility for copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights relating to material that you provide.
We use AI and other computer software as part of our design and production process.
Our AI systems are built around open-source models and software, which we then adapt and integrate into our own systems for the products we make.
Your photographs, designs and other customer submissions are used to process your order.
We do not use customer designs, photographs or submitted material to train our AI models.
We do not sell your designs or personal information to advertising companies.
We also do not use customer submissions to build advertising profiles about you.
Our AI generation and design processing is carried out on our own workshop equipment rather than sending your designs to an external AI company for them to use as training material.
Some parts of running the shop are done by outside companies, and they only get what they need to do that job:
We chose services that do one job and don't need to know more than that. We should be honest that not all of them are open source (unlike much of the software we use to make things), so we keep what we share with them to the minimum needed. None of them are given your designs or photographs to train AI, and we don't sell your information to anyone or use it for marketing.
We keep a very small amount of basic information about how our website is being used.
This is currently limited to simple counters, such as how many times a page or design tool has been used and how many designs have resulted in orders.
For example, we might be able to see that:
This helps us understand whether parts of the website are useful and where we might need to improve the design or ordering process.
These counters are not intended to identify individual visitors.
We are not currently using Google Analytics or advertising trackers to follow visitors around the internet.
We do not sell this information or use it to create advertising profiles.
We collect as little information as we reasonably need to operate and improve the website.
If this changes in the future, we will update this section.
The current website does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
Our website may use information that is technically necessary for the website or its features to function, but we do not currently use cookies to build advertising profiles about visitors.
Your basket. If you add items to a basket, the contents are stored in your own browser on your own device so that they are still there if you move between pages. This is not a cookie, it is not sent to us until you choose to check out, and it is not used to track you. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Paying. When you pay, you're taken to a secure payment page run by Stripe. Stripe may use cookies or similar technology on that page to make the payment work and to prevent fraud. That is covered by Stripe's own privacy information, not ours.
If we introduce additional cookies, analytics or tracking in the future, we will update this information and provide any controls or information required for their use.
We need to keep some information so that we can make, deliver and support your order.
This can include:
We only keep information for as long as we have a reason to need it.
Our normal aim is to delete customer design files and photographs that are no longer needed around 30 days after the order has been posted.
This gives us a short period in which to deal with any immediate problems with an order.
Copies held in our backups are removed as those backups expire, which takes up to about two weeks longer. Our backups are encrypted and password protected.
We may keep the approved render, design or approval record (including the technical details mentioned above) for around 6 months after the order.
This gives us a record of what was approved if there is a question about an order later.
Survey answers are used to improve the shop. If you gave us permission to use your comment as a review (see "Reviews and testimonials"), we may keep that comment for as long as we display it, and we'll remove it if you ask.
If you contact us but do not place an order, we do not intend to keep the information indefinitely.
Once the conversation is finished and there is no longer a reason to keep it, we will remove the information where appropriate.
Some order, payment and business records may need to be kept for longer where there is a legal, accounting or other legitimate reason to do so.
Deleting customer files does not necessarily mean every record of a transaction can immediately be deleted.
You have rights regarding personal information we hold about you.
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask us what information we hold, ask us to correct inaccurate information, ask for information to be deleted, or object to certain uses of your information.
These rights are not absolute. For example, there may be information we have to keep because of legal, accounting or other requirements.
If you want to ask about your information, email us at [email protected].
We are a small workshop and make products one order at a time.
Our dispatch estimate takes into account the type of product you have ordered and the current production queue.
As a rough guide:
3D printing:
If the printer queue is clear, some models can be completed and ready for postage in around two days. If several longer prints are ahead of yours, the next print may not be able to start for several days.
Sublimation and similar printed products:
These can generally be produced and shipped within a few days, depending on the current workload and the product.
Crochet and amigurumi:
These normally take around 4–6 weeks because they are handmade.
These are estimates, not guarantees.
Equipment problems, material problems, particularly complicated orders, unexpectedly busy periods or other circumstances can affect the timeframe.
Where possible, our website will use the current production queue to give you an estimated dispatch timeframe. You can see the current estimate at the top of our home page, and how it is worked out.
The estimate in your approval email is worked out from the queue on the day we send it, and it is only held for a limited time (the email tells you how long). If you approve and pay later than that, the date may move, and we'll confirm the up-to-date estimate in your payment confirmation email.
If something goes wrong once your order is with us, such as a machine breaking down or us waiting for parts, we'll email you to let you know and give you a new estimate when we can.
We will always try to help with urgent orders, but please do not assume that we can meet a deadline unless we have specifically agreed to it.
We currently deliver orders across the UK.
Every product on the website shows clearly whether delivery is included in the price or whether postage is added on top.
Delivery is free on orders over £15. This is worked out on the whole order.
If you cancel part of an order and what is left comes to £15 or less, postage may be added to the remaining items where it isn't already included in their price. We will tell you before you pay.
Everything in one order is posted together once it is all ready. This means the whole order waits for the item that takes longest to make.
We do not offer local collection.
Because many of our products are personalised or made specifically to your requirements, cancellation and change-of-mind rights can depend on the type of product and how far we have progressed with it.
A genuinely personalised or bespoke product may not have the same cancellation rights as a standard, non-personalised product.
If you want to cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible by replying to your order email or writing to [email protected].
If we have not started work, we will normally be able to stop the order.
If work has already been carried out specifically for your order, particularly detailed custom design or full-colour preparation, the amount that can be refunded may depend on the work already completed and the type of order.
If you have already paid and a refund is due, we'll return it to the way you paid.
If your order contains more than one item, you can cancel the whole order or just one item from it.
Refunds work in the same way for each item, based on the type of product and how far we have progressed with it.
Nothing in these terms removes any consumer rights that apply to you.
We want you to be happy with the design before we make it.
For custom 3D work, one reasonable round of changes is normally included where stated on the product page or during the design process.
Once the final design has been approved, further changes may require additional work and may incur an additional charge.
We will tell you about any additional charge before carrying out that work.
If you approve a design and later realise that something in the approved design was incorrect because of information you supplied or something you overlooked during approval, we may not be able to treat that as a manufacturing fault.
Sometimes an idea may not be technically possible to produce in the way originally requested.
This can happen because of the limits of a printer, material, design process, available equipment or another production issue.
If we cannot reasonably produce what you have ordered, we will explain the problem and discuss the available options with you.
If we cannot provide the product you ordered, we will refund any money that we are required to refund.
We want everything to arrive in the condition you paid for.
If your item arrives damaged, faulty or significantly different from what was agreed, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] and include photographs where appropriate.
We will look at the problem and work with you on the appropriate solution.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include a repair, replacement, refund or another appropriate remedy.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by anything written on this page.
Please check your order details carefully before submitting it.
This is particularly important for:
If you notice a mistake, contact us as quickly as possible.
If production has not started, we will do our best to correct it.
Once a personalised product has already been made using the information you supplied, we may not be able to remake it for free.
We reserve the right to refuse a request where we believe the requested product would create legal, safety or other serious concerns.
This includes, for example:
If we refuse an order, we will explain the reason where appropriate.
We take reasonable steps to make the products we sell suitable for their intended use.
Some products are decorative items, some are craft products and some are personalised gifts. They are not automatically toys simply because they may be suitable for display in a child's room or may contain child-friendly themes.
Where a product is intended to be used by children as a toy, the appropriate product safety requirements will need to be met before it is sold as such.
Paint-your-own kits and similar craft products should be used according to their instructions and with appropriate supervision where necessary.
If a product has specific safety or care information, please follow it.
Occasionally something we make for you doesn't come out quite up to our standard. It might have a small flaw in the print, the finish or the colours.
When you approve an order you'll see an optional tick-box asking whether you're happy for us to sell it as a second (a discounted item, described honestly with its flaw, in our Ready to buy shop) if that happens. We would then make you a new one.
Ticking the box is entirely optional, and it does not change your order, price or approval in any way. If you don't tick it, we won't sell it as a second.
We only offer the tick-box where it's suitable for the item, and we never sell as seconds anything that includes a real person or a family pet. We only ever sell an item as a second if you've ticked the box.
At the end of our after-order survey there is an optional tick-box. If you leave a comment and tick it, you're giving us permission to quote your comment on our website and our social media pages.
We will only use your first name, or no name if you'd prefer. We won't use your surname, address, email address or photographs of you or your order without asking you separately.
If you don't tick the box we won't publish what you write, and we'll only use it internally to improve the shop. If you change your mind, email us and we'll take it down.
We may occasionally contact customers after an order to ask for feedback about their experience.
The purpose is to help us understand what worked and what did not, and to improve the website and products.
If you're a first-time customer, the survey email may include a discount code as a thank-you. Answering is optional, and the code's terms are in "Discount codes" below.
We will not use feedback to pretend that every customer had the same experience.
The price shown for a product is the price applicable to the options selected at the time of ordering, unless a custom quote is required.
For custom products where the final price depends on the completed design or production requirements, we will explain the price before asking you to approve the final order.
Any optional extras or additional work will be explained before they are charged.
Placing an order does not charge you. When you place an order, or a basket with several items in it, we book it in and prepare each item for you to look at.
We then send you one email for the whole order, with a link to a single page showing everything in it. On that page you can:
Nothing is treated as approved until the payment goes through. If you go to the payment page and leave without paying, nothing has been approved and nothing is charged, and you can come back to the same link later.
We start making your order once it has been paid.
Items we quote by hand, such as crochet, cards, stickers, garments and photo figures, can go in the same basket. Their prices in the basket are "from" prices and an estimate only. We come back with a real price for each one, and you only pay once you have agreed everything.
The only exception is a full-colour 3D model, where an £8 deposit is taken first to cover the preparation work. It is deducted from the final total.
Ready-made items from the shop are put aside for you when you place your order, and are paid for with the rest of it. If the order isn't paid within 48 hours of us sending it, we put those ready-made items back on sale and let you know. The rest of your order is not affected.
Payments are taken by Stripe, a payment company, on their secure payment page. You can pay by card, and by PayPal where it is offered on that page.
Your card details are entered on Stripe's page and go to Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe tells us that a payment has been made, and how much, so that we can mark your order as paid.
Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.
From time to time we may give you a discount code, for example as a thank-you after your first order, as a gift or to say sorry for a problem.
We may cancel a code that has been misused.
When you approve, you are confirming that you are happy for us to produce the physical item or items based on what you were shown. If your order has several items, you approve them together.
We keep the approval information for a limited period so that we have a record of what was agreed.
This does not transfer ownership of your original photographs, artwork or other material to us.
It simply confirms what version of the design you approved for your order.
If something has gone wrong with an order, please contact us first at [email protected].
We are a small business and there are only two of us, so we'd much rather have the opportunity to look at a problem and put it right than leave you unhappy.
Please include your order details and, where useful, photographs of the problem.
We'll then work through it with you.
We may update this page from time to time as the website, products, software or business changes.
The version published on the website at the time of your order will be the version relevant to that order, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.
If we make a significant change to something that affects how we handle customer information or orders, we will update the relevant information on the website.
We're a small two-person workshop.
You design it.
We make it.
Most of what you see on the website does not exist until somebody asks us to make it.
That means things can take a little longer than ordering something mass-produced from a warehouse, but it also means your order is made specifically for you.
We will always try to be clear about what we're doing, what something will cost, how long it is likely to take and what happens if something goes wrong.
Questions about anything on this page, or something that's gone wrong with an order? Write to us here. We read every message, and usually reply within a couple of days.
We only use your details to reply to this message. If it's about an existing order, please include your order reference.
