How our dispatch estimates work

Almost everything we make is made to order, which means your order joins the work we're already making in the workshop.

At the top of our home page you'll see two estimated dispatch times: one for 3D printed items, and one for everything else. They give you an idea of how busy we are right now and how long you may be waiting before your order is dispatched, meaning made, packed and handed to the courier.

It is an estimate, not a guaranteed date. Once your order is with the courier, delivery times are up to them and outside our control.

Estimated dispatch, right now

Made-to-order items. 3D printing is shown separately because it's the one thing that can be several days behind while everything else goes out sooner.

Crochet isn't included, because it's handmade and a piece can take up to 6 weeks. Ask us before you order. Ready-made items from the shop go out within a day or two.

Why is it only an estimate?

Our orders don't all take the same amount of time, and they don't all use the same equipment.

For example, a few orders for stickers might only take a few hours to prepare, while several large 3D prints could keep the 3D printer busy for days. A mug may be pressed while a 3D model is printing, so one type of order doesn't necessarily hold up another.

Because of this, we don't simply put every order into one big queue and add up the hours. Instead, our website uses our current confirmed workload to give a general estimated turnaround.

The estimate can therefore change as new orders come in and existing orders are completed.

What about crochet?

Crochet isn't part of these estimates, because it works differently. Every piece is made by hand, one stitch at a time, and a single piece can take up to 6 weeks, depending on the size and how much detail is in it.

Because of that, we can't put a general dispatch time on it. Please enquire about crochet before you order and we'll tell you the estimated dispatch time for your piece, based on what's already being made.

Your order may have a more accurate date

When we send your final approval email for a custom order, we'll have a much better idea of where your order sits in our current workload.

Where possible, we'll give you a more specific estimated dispatch date or timeframe in that email. It's based on how busy we are on the day we send it. We make things in the order they're approved, so if you take longer to approve, the date may move.

Website estimate: a general idea of our current workload.

Approval email: a more accurate estimate for your order, as of the day we send it.

Payment confirmation: once you've approved and paid, we send the estimate as it stands with your order in the queue. That's the one to go by.

Dispatch notification: your order has actually been made and is on its way.

Things don't always go perfectly

We do our best to keep orders within the estimated timeframe, but things can occasionally go wrong.

A 3D print can fail and need to be printed again. Equipment can have problems. A material can need replacing. An order can take longer than expected.

When something like this happens, it can push other work back.

That's why we would rather give you an honest estimate than promise a date we cannot guarantee.

Ordering for a birthday or special event?

Please order with plenty of time whenever possible.

If you need something for a birthday, wedding, Christmas, or another specific date, don't rely on the website estimate alone. Enquire before you order: get in touch with us and we'll let you know what we can realistically do at the time.

We can sometimes work around a deadline, but a date is only guaranteed if we have specifically agreed it with you.

Why don't we show an estimate on every product?

We could put a different estimated date on every product and category, but we'd rather not fill the website with dates that can become out of date as soon as another order comes in.

Instead, we keep two simple current estimates at the top of the website, one for 3D printed items and one for everything else, and update them as our workload changes.

It keeps things clearer for you and gives you a better idea of how busy we actually are.

Delivery after dispatch

The estimates on this page are for making and dispatching your order.

Once your order has been posted, delivery is normally around 1–2 working days, although delivery times are outside our control and can occasionally take longer.

The most accurate point is always when we tell you your order has been dispatched.
