Shirts, hats and a lot more besides

Send us a picture and we'll print it — onto a shirt, a hoodie, a cap, a coaster, a keyring, or most other things that'll sit still under a press. Pressed into the surface rather than stuck on top, so there's nothing to peel, crack or wash away.

How it works, and what it can't do

The ink is heated until it turns into a gas and bonds into the surface itself. It doesn't sit on top, so there's no layer to crack or peel, and it won't wash out — the colours last as long as the thing you've put them on.

That bonding is also where the limits come from, and they're worth knowing before you ask.

Light colours only. The ink is see-through, and there's no white in the process. On a black shirt the design simply wouldn't show. This isn't something we can do badly — it's something that doesn't work at all.
Polyester, or a coated surface. Cotton won't hold it; the print washes straight out. Our garments are polyester or high-polyester blends, and the hard items — mugs, coasters, keyrings, slate — come with a coating made for it. An ordinary mug or an uncoated keyring won't take the ink.

What we print on

Clothing is only part of it. T-shirts, hoodies, caps, bucket hats and tote bags, and then coasters, keyrings, mouse mats, photo slates, jigsaws, water bottles, pet tags and Christmas decorations. If you've seen something you like the look of, ask — if it takes the ink, we can almost certainly do it.

We don't keep everything in stock. We hold the basics and order the rest in as it's needed. That adds a few days before we can press it, and nothing to the price — we'll tell you the honest timescale when we quote.

We can only print on items we supply. Most shop-bought clothing is cotton or too dark to take the ink, and there's no way to be certain until it's in the press — we'd rather not have you post us something we have to send back, or risk spoiling a shirt that means something to you.

Getting a good print

Presses well

  • Bold, bright artwork with clear edges
  • High-resolution files — bigger is better
  • Strong contrast against a light background
  • Photos, as long as they're sharp
  • Text, if it isn't tiny

Doesn't press well

  • Small images blown up big — they go soft
  • Very pale colours, which wash out
  • Screenshots and images saved off social media
  • White as part of the design — it comes out as the fabric
  • Designs that need to be on something dark

How it goes

  1. Send us the picture With a note about what you'd like it on and roughly where the print should sit.
  2. We check it We'll say if the image is too small, too pale or the wrong shape, and what would work better.
  3. We quote Item, print size and quantity — and how long it'll take if we need to order the blank in. More than one of the same design is cheaper, because most of the work is the setup.
  4. You approve a mock-up The print laid out on the item, before anything is pressed.
  5. We press it and post it Usually within a week of you approving.

Send the original file rather than a screenshot of it — screenshots lose most of the detail that makes a print sharp.

We'll reply by email, usually within a couple of days. Nothing is charged and nothing is made until you've seen a mock-up and agreed a price.
